Sleep Apnea Treatment

Relief from Sleep Apnea Starts Here

Do you or your bed partner struggle with loud snoring, restless sleep, choking at night, or daytime fatigue? These are often signs of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can lead to high blood pressure, acid reflux, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, kidney problems, strokes, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.

Our office offers custom oral appliances to help you breathe better and sleep more comfortably, without the need for a CPAP machine. The medical profession prefers treatment for sleep apnea to be the utilization of a CPAP machine (continuous positive air pressure).  Patients much prefer to wear an oral appliance at night rather than be attached to an air compressor that blows air up your nose all night.

The diagnosis for sleep apnea can only be made by a medical professional (sleep specialist).

How Oral Appliance Treatment Works

We provide custom-fitted oral appliances designed to keep your airway open while you sleep. These devices gently reposition your jaw slightly forward to prevent airway obstruction, reduce snoring and sleep apnea episodes for better sleep quality, and are comfortable, portable, and easy to use compared to CPAP machines.

Signs of sleep apnea and chronic snoring:
   • Loud, persistent snoring
   • Gasping or choking sounds during sleep
   • Morning headaches or dry mouth
   • Excessive daytime sleepiness
   • Difficulty concentrating or memory loss
   • Irritability or mood changes

The Sleep Apnea Treatment Process

We evaluate your symptoms and check for possible airway obstructions in the mouth and neck.  We also evaluate the health of the temporomandibular joint.

The home sleep study is much more comfortable than the hospital sleep study. It is a much more accurate sleep study when the patient sleeps in their own bed compared to sleeping in a strange bed in a strange place.

Explain the results of our examination, discuss the options of different oral appliances, and a personalized oral appliance is made to ensure maximum comfort and effectiveness.

Patients come in for several appointments to adjust the oral appliance. We will also want to ensure that your sleep is improving as a result of less snoring and sleep apnea.
